Elite One-on-One AP Calculus AB & BC Tutoring
100% Virtual. Nationwide.
AP Calculus is the most important math course most high school students will ever take. It is the gateway to engineering, economics, computer science, physics, and virtually every quantitative STEM field. It is also notoriously demanding — and the gap between students who truly understand the material and those who have memorized procedures tends to show up exactly when it matters most: the AP exam.
Crownridge Coaching offers elite, one-on-one AP Calculus tutoring for students enrolled in either AP Calculus AB or AP Calculus BC. Every student works directly with Grace Dunn — National Merit Scholar, 800 SAT Math scorer, and Columbia University graduate — in sessions built to develop genuine mathematical understanding, not just exam mechanics.
AB vs. BC: Understanding the Difference
AP Calculus AB covers the foundational concepts of differential and integral calculus — roughly equivalent to one semester of college Calculus.
AP Calculus BC covers everything in AB plus additional topics: parametric equations, polar functions, vector-valued functions, and infinite series. It is roughly equivalent to two semesters of college Calculus.
Both courses culminate in an AP exam with multiple-choice and free-response sections. BC students also receive an AB sub-score.
Grace tutors both. Whether a student is working through AB for the first time or pushing through the additional BC content, the coaching approach is the same: build real understanding, close gaps systematically, and prepare to perform.

What These Courses Cover
AP Calculus AB
- Limits and continuity
- Differentiation — definition, rules, applications
- Integration — antiderivatives, definite integrals, the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus
- Differential equations and accumulation
AP Calculus BC (all of AB, plus):
- Parametric equations, polar coordinates, and vector-valued functions
- Additional integration techniques
- Infinite sequences and series — convergence, Taylor and Maclaurin series
Where Students Most Often Struggle
In both courses, the hardest moments for students are not usually the new material — they are the moments when earlier gaps resurface. A student who never fully understood function behavior in Precalculus will hit that wall when derivatives require it. A student who memorized integration rules without understanding what an integral represents will stall on applied problems.
Grace’s diagnostic process identifies those underlying gaps early — and addresses them before they compound.
Grace's Approach to AP Calculus
Diagnostic Assessment
Every student begins with an evaluation of their current understanding across the major topic areas. This determines where sessions start and what gets prioritized.
Conceptual Depth
Grace teaches why calculus works — not just how to execute steps. Students who understand the logic behind derivatives and integrals can handle unfamiliar problems. Students who only know the procedures often cannot.
Free-Response Preparation
AP Calculus free-response questions require more than correct answers — they require complete, mathematically precise written solutions. Grace trains students to communicate their reasoning clearly, which is where many points are won or lost.
BC Extension Coaching
For BC students, the series and sequences unit is notoriously difficult. Grace spends significant time on convergence testing and Taylor series — the areas most likely to separate 4s from 5s on the BC exam.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should my student take AB or BC?
That depends on the student’s math background, school offerings, and goals. Students with strong Precalculus foundations and an interest in STEM often benefit from BC. This is a good topic to discuss during a consultation.
My student is in AB but wants to self-study BC material. Is that possible?
Yes. Grace can coach students who are enrolled in AB but want to extend into BC content independently.
My student is failing or at serious risk of failing. Can you help?
Yes. Grace works with students at all levels — from those who need to recover quickly to those who are already strong and want to push toward a 5.
How far in advance of the AP exam should tutoring start?
The earlier the better. Ideally students begin at the start of the course. That said, even focused preparation in the weeks before the exam can produce meaningful improvement on the most heavily weighted topics.
What comes after AP Calculus BC?
Many advanced students continue with Multivariable Calculus tutoring — one of the most impressive courses a high school student can take and a strong differentiator for selective college applications.
